Check Engine Light

It seems that most of us do a good job of paying attention to our check engine light when it comes on. Now that it's "on" what do you do next? Well you have a couple of options; do nothing and allow your car to get worse; take it to your local auto parts store and they may offer a free diagnostic check; or pay for a professional diagnosis. There are advantages to having your own tester because you can find the problem right away, you don't have to wait to make an appointment to have your vehicle looked at hoping they tell you what's wrong. I know that when I'm about to pay good money or get a free service I seek a second opinion. Owning a tester you ARE the second opinion and can make a definitive decision on getting your vehicle fixed. If you own more than one vehicle chances are it has a computer on board wired to a check engine light on your dashboard and no telling when this light may come on. You may want to purchase your own tester so you can relax with a piece-of-mind knowing what's wrong with your vehicle and pay exactly what the repair requires nothing more.
